Function of open type Headbox:

1. Spread the stock evenly along the width of the paper machine
 2. Accelerate the stock up to the machine operating speed.
 3. Suspend the pulp fibers throughout the outgoing slurry.

Technical  paramater:

I. quality index of headbox:

The headbox shall ensure the smooth flow of the pulp without large eddy current, cross flow and instantaneous velocity fluctuation, and the velocity distribution along the full width of the paper machine shall be consistent. The distribution concentration of all parts of the web pulp is the same, and the fiber is evenly distributed, which can prevent settlement and flocculation, and ensure that the flow rate of paper web can be controlled to make it close to the web speed, so as to obtain good forming conditions.

1. The horizontal quantitative difference of finished paper shall not be greater than ± 2%.

2. The difference between the opening width of upper lip and lower lip shall not be greater than 0.10 mm

3. The surface inside the box is rough and close to the mirror surface. (for the part contacting with the slurry, the absorbent cotton will not hang when passing through)

II. Main structure:

The overall structure adopts: square cone tube slurry distribution, ladder diffusion, oblique slurry feeding, movable upper lip plate, whole width adjustment and dial indicator fine adjustment. The fine adjustment distance of dial indicator is about 126mm.

1. Box body: oblique feeding is adopted to reduce slurry retention in the box body.

2. Square cone tube: it is composed of large and small ends and square cone tubes. The large and small ends are in the sky and circle, equipped with pressure balance tube

3. Step hole plate: the step hole is processed on the whole piece of plexiglass in the form of three-stage diffusion hole

4. Homogenizing roller device: there are two sets of homogenizing rollers in the weir pool of the headbox, with a diameter of 200mm and a wall thickness of 4mm. The opening rate of throat roller and lip homogenizer roller made of stainless steel is 35% - 50% respectively (determined in design), and the motor power of cycloid pin wheel reducer is 1.5KW.

5. Upper lip adjustment device: it is composed of integral adjustment and local adjustment. For local adjustment, dial indicator fine adjustment is used to fine adjust the opening of the lip, so as to ensure the quantitative difference of the paper banner. The upper lip can be adjusted up and down.

6. The lower lip is fixed.

7. The front wall is provided with overflow plate, which can be adjusted up and down

8. the spray tube is stainless steel tube, and the nozzle is nylon nozzle.

9. For the convenience of fine adjustment of front wall, there are horizontal walking platform and escalator in front.
III. materials:

Stainless steel (304) or copper shall be used for all parts, parts and rotating parts in contact with slurry.

1. The front and rear wall panels of the box and the wall panels on both sides are processed by stainless steel plate (304); the base of the headbox is Q235A, with mirror panel on top;

2. Square taper pipe: stainless steel plate (304) 2 mm thick, including flange; the spacing between stiffeners is 300 mm, and the plate thickness is 5 mm

3. Homogenizing roller: stainless seamless steel pipe (304) 4mm thick

4. Regulating rod: stainless steel

5. Step orifice: use the whole plexiglass plate;

6. The upper lip is 8mm thick of stainless steel (304), the vertical small lip is 5mm thick (304), and the lower lip is 6mm thick (304)

Main tasks:
1. It can disperse fiber effectively. High turbulence headbox can produce high-intensity micro turbulence, effectively disperse fibers, prevent fiber precipitation and re flocculation, and effectively improve the strength of paper.

2. Evenly distribute the paper material along the horizontal direction of the paper machine. (determines the horizontal quantitative distribution of the web)

3. The shotcreting is stable to ensure the consistency between the slurry speed and the mesh speed. (determines the vertical quantitative distribution of the web)
